The tapestry is truly a work of art - much influenced by the Bayeux, of course - and well worth seeing. I couldn't photo it to do it justice. Here's one detail just for Georgia.

Wednesday in Fishguard
It rained the day after Georgia's departure so, after a postcard writing sort of morning, we went into Fishguard with Dave to see the Last Invasion of Britain Tapestry. This is a very interesting historical episode when the French, in a frenzy of emancipation, landed near Fishguard in 1797 to overthrow the British aristocracy by rallying the downtrodden Welsh. Unfortunately the Welsh didn't want to play and the French surrendered. Part of the story is that the cunning Welsh women paraded around the cliff tops in their red shawls and black hats and duped the French into believing that the British army had arrived. This clever ploy was led by Jemima Nicholas who single-handedly caught 12 French soldiers, or so the story goes.
